Sydney Pratte is a Ph.D. candidate in Computer Science at the University of Calgary. Her research interests are in fashion technology and how it can leverage understanding for social issues through fashion activism. She has instructed courses on design and data science at UofC and works to inspire creativity and diversity in computing sciences. 

Sydney is a native Calgarian and has been a fashion technology designer for MakeFashion for 5 years. Sydney has participated in runway shows in Calgary and in Shenzhen, China and her designs have been seen in other international events. Most notably, her design Affinity a proximity-based dress that changed colours of the LEDs when close to her dog Bentley appeared in the Calgary Metro paper after the 2017 MakeFashion Gala. Sydney aspires to continue designing fashion-tech garments and research methods for designers and others to create dynamic fashion garments.

Shannon is an innovator and technologist as well as leader in the Canadian Maker movement. He is the co-founder of the globally renowned Fashion Technology company Makefashion  as well as Calgary Maker Faire and Fuse33 Makerspace.

He is devoted to improving his community and world through subversive change and art-directed engineering. Passions include wearable tech and augmented self projects for MakeFashion and collaborating internationally to leverage maker culture improve quality of life.
